Video: Ken Block's Final Gymkhana Video Is Officially Here
Ken Block's final Gymkhana-style film has officially arrived.
Hoonigan launched the video, Electrikhana Two: The Mexico City Sessions, on its YouTube channel Wednesday morning following a teaser in early November. The film features Block and his Audi S1 Hoonitron drifting through Mexico City in a way that only the late rally legend could.
This installment in the Electrikhana series was filmed back in November 2022 but was put on the shelf after Block's shocking death in January 2023. Now it is here, and we get one more reminder of what made Block so special.
This film features his all-electric, 680-horsepower, Audi S1 Hoonitron that we first saw in his Las Vegas video. And as impressive as that first film was, Block is never satisfied and always pushing the limits. Hoonigan says following that shoot, he worked with Audi to make improvements to the car to increase its performance. These upgrades included a new "simulated gears" feature, which Hoonigan says allowed for even more controlled slides and donuts. And it is not like the slides and the donuts in the first film were lacking.
The updated S1 Hoonitron is also capable of doing a standing all-wheel drive burnout and can shift into reverse at any speed. These features Block puts to eye-popping use in the new film.
Anyone familiar with Block and his videos knows that the locations are just as important as the car. In this film, Mexico City is the star. Block makes the most of the various iconic landmarks such as the Plaza de Toros, which is the largest bullring in the world. He also drifts around the stunning Museo Soumaya museum and the Benito Juárez International Airport.
As always, Block and the Hoonigan team put together an amazing show of driving skill and cinematography. As the film wraps, the end credits show a Gymkhana tribute to the man who shared his incredible talents with us all.
