Round 1 of the women’s 1500m at the Summer Olympics in Tokyo, Japan produced one of the craziest finishes we’ve seen.

Sifan Hassan, a long distance runner from the Netherlands, was tripped and fell in the final lap of her heat race on Sunday.

However, Hassan did not stop. In fact, she got up quickly and made her way to the front of the pack, finishing in first place in her heat.

This is incredible.

It doesn’t get much more impressive than that.

Sports fans across the world have taken to Twitter to celebrate her accomplishment.

Dutch star Sifan Hassan (who is attempting to win gold in the 1,500, 5K and 10K) falls just before the bell in the first round of the women’s 1,500m. BUT…she gets back up and wins her heat in 4:05.17. WHAT?!” one fan tweeted.

Falling on the last lap of a 1500 is only a problem if your name isn’t Sifan Hassan,” another fan wrote.

Sifan Hassan is….ready. I’ve never seen anything as impressive as that in a 1500 heat. Falls with 380 to go, rolls, loses 25-30 metres, gets up, still wins,” one fan added.

Hassan will certainly be a must-watch athlete moving forward at the Tokyo Games.
