This season has been one to forget for the Arizona Diamondbacks, and it just keeps getting worse. On Tuesday night, they made an inexcusable mistake against the Milwaukee Brewers.

During the top of the sixth inning of last night’s game, Brewers first baseman Daniel Vogelbach injured his hamstring while rounding the bases.

Vogelbach was seen literally limping to home plate, yet for some odd reason the Diamondbacks didn’t even throw the ball home to get the out. Instead, they just watched Vogelbach limp his way across the plate.

Either the Diamondbacks felt bad for Vogelbach and didn’t want to make his injury worse than it already was, or they just forgot to make a play at the plate.

Here’s the brutal mistake that Arizona’s infield made on Tuesday night:

After the loss on Tuesday night, Diamondbacks shortstop Nick Ahmed shared his thoughts on the play.

“Weird stuff happens all the time in this game,” Ahmed said, via MLB.com. “And I’ve played it long enough to know now there’s something new you’re going to see maybe every day and you try to be ready for everything and prepare the best you can and that’s what I do each and every day. But I’ve never once taken a cut and relay and practiced for the guy pulling his hammy and being 30 feet outside the baseline. It’s just never happened. So I’m just going to laugh about it. There’s nothing I could have done differently.”

The Diamondbacks own the worst record in the MLB at this point in the season. They’ll try to get back in the win column this afternoon.
