Victim identified in fatal shooting at Sanger home. Violence wasn’t random, deputies say

A 43-year-old man killed when he was shot in the front yard of a home north of Sanger was identified by the Fresno County Sheriff’s Office on Monday.

Cesar Quezada was outside of a family member’s home on Indianola Avenue north of Shields Avenue when he was shot about 5:30 a.m. Saturday.

Deputies went to the scene after a 911 caller reported shots fired in the area, but despite life-saving efforts they were not able to save Quezada, according to a news release.

Investigators began looking for witnesses of the homicide and have been speaking to people who lived in the area, deputies said.

The investigation was ongoing, but the sheriff’s office said the violence appeared to be targeted and not random.

Anyone with information was asked by the sheriff’s office to call Detective Juan Galindo at 559-600-8215 or email juan.galindo@fresnosheriff.org. Crime Stoppers also takes anonymous tips at 559-498-7867, www.valleycrimestoppers.org.
