Victim was beaten and shot in 'cowardly' Mansfield attack

Two men have been jailed after a man was beaten then shot four times.

Ti Carr struck the victim's face repeatedly and Vincent Brown shot the man with a handgun in a flat in Mansfield, Nottinghamshire, on 9 December 2022, police said.

They were both found guilty of causing grievous bodily harm with intent after a trial at Nottingham Crown Court.

Brown was sentenced to 23 years in prison while Carr was given a jail term of 11 years and six months.

The victim was was treated in hospital for serious facial injuries and non life-threatening gunshot wounds.

Officers said Brown, of no fixed address, was arrested eight days after the shooting following a police chase where he drove at 70mph in a 30mph zone, went through red lights and reversed into a police car.

As he tried to avoid arrest, he reversed into an officer who was lucky to avoid serious injury, said police.

He was further arrested after two firearms - including the pistol used in the shooting - were found hidden at a house in Mersey Street, Bulwell, along with a cannabis grow worth up to £60,000.

Det Ch Insp Nick Hall said: "Brown and Carr are particularly dangerous criminals whose cowardly actions could very easily have led to a loss of life."

Brown was found guilty of wounding with intent to cause grievous bodily harm, possession of a firearm with intent to endanger life, producing a class B drug, and possession of a handgun, swan off shotgun, and ammunition for a firearm without a licence.

He pleaded guilty to dangerous driving, assaulting an emergency worker, and perverting the course of justice.

Carr, of Allwood Drive in Carlton, Nottingham, was found guilty of causing grievous bodily harm with intent and admitted perverting the course of justice.
