Vicky White and Casey White’s motel room hideout now has a wait list, higher price

The Indiana motel room shared by corrections officer Vicky White and escaped inmate Casey White has garnered a lengthy waitlist in the weeks since the couple used it as a hideaway from pursuing police.

Vicky White and capital murder suspect Casey White, who are not related, fled together from the Lauderdale County Jail in Florence, Ala., on April 29. They spent 11 days on the run, including nearly a week at Motel 41′s room 150, located about 300 miles north of the Alabama jail.

A clerk at the Evansville motel, who wished to remain anonymous, said at least 70 true crime lovers have expressed interest in staying in the room that served as a hideout for the ill-fated lovers. She told WAAY the ground-level room, which features a flat-screen TV and a queen-sized bed, typically costs about $63 a night.

The room now costs between $75 and $100 a night.

“It’s quite a few people,” the receptionist told NBC News about the waiting list. “It’s pretty strange.”

A tipster eventually helped authorities track down the couple, who had been in a romantic relationship for about two years, to the motel. Amid a brief car chase, officers slammed into a Cadillac driven by Casey, forcing the vehicle to tip over on its side. Before officers could reach the pair, Vicky shot herself in the head, dying later at a nearby hospital.

Casey White was taken into custody and has since been extradited back to Alabama.
