Not even a last-minute push from an NFL Hall of Famer could sway Vicari Swain’s decision to play at South Carolina.

Swain affirmed his commitment to Shane Beamer and the Gamecocks on Wednesday evening during a ceremony at Central High in Carrollton, Georgia on the first day of the early signing period.

The Georgia product committed to USC in August but got a strong push over the last week or two from new Colorado coach and former NFL great Deion Sanders. Swain took an official visit to Colorado over the weekend. While he had good things to say about the visit, he stayed with his original plans to sign with the Gamecocks.

247Sports Composite ranks him as a four-star prospect and the 10th-best athlete in this year’s class. USC listed Swain as a defensive back in their first bio of him published Wednesday.

This season, Swain caught 44 passes for 610 yards and seven touchdowns at Central High School in Carrollton, Georgia. On defense, he played in the secondary and led the team with six interceptions to go along with 35 tackles.
