From Veterans Day races to Turkey Trots, here are 6 5K runs in Beaufort Co. for November

If you’re a racer, walker, a family looking to make holiday memories or someone who wants to participate in a fun activity within the community, there are several local 5K opportunities in the area that might be just the thing you’re looking for.

Here are six holiday 5K races going on in Beaufort County this November.

  • Helping Heroes 5K will be taking place in Beaufort this Saturday from 8-10 a.m. Registration for this event will end at 5 p.m. on Friday. If you wish to sign up, there will be a $30 fee and attendees may register online at https://runsignup.com/Race/SC/Beaufort/HelpingHeroes5K. This certified 5K course will take place in downtown Beaufort, beginning at 1020 Bay Street. Runners, or walkers, will follow along the waterfront before making their way across the Woods Memorial Bridge. Registered attendees will receive a T-shirt and 100% of the proceeds will be used to support the Gary Sinise Foundation and our military veterans.

  • Historic Bluffton 5K Turkey Chase will take place on Nov. 24, Thanksgiving Day, at the Bluffton Oyster Factory Park, located at 63 Wharf Street in Bluffton. This is the 12th annual Turkey Chase, which is set to begin at 8:30 a.m. and will end around noon. Registration for the event includes a $30 fee and will end on Nov. 21 at 11:59 p.m. For those who wish to attend, visit https://runsignup.com/Race/SC/Bluffton/BTownTurkeyChase5K to register. T-shirts are available if you register before Thursday, Nov. 10.

  • LowCountry Habitat Turkey Trot 5K is set to take place on Thanksgiving Day, Nov. 24, from 8-10 a.m. in downtown Beaufort. Attendees will meet on Bay & Newcastle Streets in front of the Best Western. Registration details can be found at https://runsignup.com/Race/Info/SC/Beaufort/LowCountryHabitatTurkeyTrot5K with separate information for those who place to run or walk and for those who are active duty military. Registration for the event ends Nov. 22 at 5 p.m. For runners that were unable to pre-register, sign-ups will still be available on the day of the race from 7-7:45 a.m. for a $50 fee.

  • The 34th Annual Turkey Trot from the Island Recreation Center on Hilton Head Island will take place on Thanksgiving morning, Nov. 24, from 8-10 a.m. The race will begin and end in front of Dockside on Skull Creek at 397 Squire Pope Road. Free parking will also be available. Attendees are asked not to bring pets. Strollers will be permitted at the event but are asked to remain at the back of the racing group.   • Palmetto Dunes Turtle Trot 5K will be held from 9-11 a.m. at 14 Dunes House Lane. Thanksgiving morning. Registration for this event will have a $30 fee for anyone aged 13 years or older. This fee consists of the $20 race fee needed to attend the event as well as the purchase of a $10 event T-shirt. The fee will increase after Nov. 19, but registration does not end until Nov. 23 at noon.
