Veronica Beard RTW Fall 2021

Founders Veronica Miele Beard and Veronica Swanson Beard dove into the concept of the day uniform for fall 2021. Celebrating more than 10 years in business, the duo no longer relies on selling solely specific trends, but rather the reality of what their customer wants. The Veronica Beard woman is searching for wardrobing that addresses the evolution from COVID-19 quarantine cozy to aspirational, elevated dress.

The look: A mix of comfortable, casual and sophisticated, amped up with texture.

Quote of note: “Fall is our season. We love, with our jacket being our signature item, our dickey jacket is really important for fall. Layering knitwear, incorporating our jean business — which is on fire — and really rounding out that modern American uniform is what we love,” the duo explained, later adding that they dove into, “How she’ll evolve out of sweatsuits into tailoring on top, maybe sweatpant-inspired bottoms; jumpsuits as an ease into dresses; jeans — big time on jeans; knitwear. Rounding out that whole uniform.”

Standout pieces: Knubby knits paired with suiting separates for casualization: a black-and-white jacquard cardigan with white tuxedo pant, vests and dickies atop classic shirting, crisp blazers over matching knit sets. Plaid patchwork blazers; jumpsuits, both utilitarian and feminine; outerwear, in general. The printed velvet suit atop chambray tie-neck blouse was noted as a sales favorite, especially in the Texas market.

The takeaway: The versatile fall collection’s mix of tailoring with comfortable knits and elevated sweats, denim and a few special frocks successfully displayed a stylish, and realistic, uniform of-the-now.
