The legendary Verne Ludquist has been apart of so many amazing college football moments over the years, but just one stands out among the rest.

Lundquist joined ESPN’s Tom Rinaldi during Saturday’s College GameDay at the Masters Saturday morning. Rinaldi couldn’t pass up the opportunity to ask the legendary play-by-play announcer what his favorite college football moment of all-time is. Lundquist didn’t hesitate when giving an answer.

For Lundquist, Auburn’s legendary kick-six to stun the Alabama Crimson Tide in the 2013 Iron Bowl is unbeatable. And how can you blame him? The Tigers’ victory over the Crimson Tide might be the most thrilling finish of any sports game of all-time.

Nick Saban demanded the refs put one second back on the clock – which the refs did – but it completely backfired on him. Auburn’s Khris Davis caught the field-goal try deep in the end-zone and proceeded to return it all the way to the other end of the field for the game-winning touchdown.

Alabama hasn’t had much bad luck this past decade. But this play will forever haunt the Crimson Tide.

Auburn, meanwhile, celebrates this play frequently, as expected. Alabama’s had the upper hand in the Iron Bowl over the years, but the Tigers’ 2013 victory is the best finish in the rivalry’s history.

Hopefully we’ll get another Iron Bowl instant classic later this season when the Tigers take on the Crimson Tide on Nov. 28.
