Vande Berg's dominant double-double leads Laconia girls to blowout win

Here are the results from Monday and Tuesday night's boys and girls basketball games in the Fond du Lac area:

GIRLS BASKETBALL

Laconia 83, Lomira 36

ROSENDALE - The Spartans had the game well in hand before the end of the first half, cruising to 5-0 overall and opening up their Flyway schedule with a victory over the Lions.

Callista Vande Berg had a massive 25-point, 18-rebound double-double to lead Laconia. Vande Berg also had five steals.

Eva Engel added 17 points, three rebounds, three assists and three steals and Tierney Madigan also scored 17 points to go with four rebounds and four steals. Aubrey Leonard had a whopping nine steals and a team-high five assists.

Piersten Litterick led Lomira with 11 points, including three 3-pointers.

FOND DU LAC - The Ledgers erased an early 22-9 deficit to lead by three at the half. After the break, Springs opened with a 19-4 run to increase their lead to 18 (58-40) with just under 11 minutes to play and never looked back.

Anna Willis scored 20 points to lead the Ledgers in the win. Grace Coon tallied 12 points and both Gracie Konkol and Olivia Kremer each added 10 apiece for Springs.

Lauren Stettbacher led North Fondy with 23 points, four rebounds, four steals and two blocks. Allison Now followed with 20 points, five rebounds, three assists and five steals for the Orioles. Aline Mastelic grabbed 12 boards and four steals to go with a block and six points.

FOND DU LAC - The Vikings improved to 3-1 with a convincing victory over the Foxes.

Abby Cole put together a double-double for WLA with 18 points, which tied for the game-high, 16 rebounds and five assists. Lindsey Nell added 14 points and eight rebounds for the Vikings.

Julia Koch also had 18 points, 13 of which came in the first half, to lead Omro.

OAKFIELD - The Oaks scored enough in the first half to cover the total needed for victory over the Tigersharks.

Stella Hofman led all scorers with 18 points and grabbed 10 boards for the double-double. Alexis Leibenow added 14 points, four rebounds, four assists and Jorja Hofman had 11, eight and six for Oakfield.

Emersen Sell led Princeton/Green Lake with seven points. Erin Pulice added six points and grabbed a game-high 14 rebounds.

KAUKAUNA - The Cardinals kept things close with Kaukauna, trailing by just three at the half, but the Ghosts distanced themselves in the second half to send Fondy to their fourth-consecutive loss to start the season.

Addison Baumgart scored a game-high 22 points to lead Kaukauna. Savanna Robinson added 17 points and Jozy Ebben had 14 for the Ghosts.

Morgan Zangl led Fond du Lac with 12 points and Ellie Shultis added 10 for the Cardinals.

WAUPUN - Trailing by two at the half, the Warriors stepped up their defense after the break to earn their first victory since returning to both the WIAA and the Trailways conference as a varsity program.

Maddie Fink scored a game-high 20 points on 7-of-12 shooting from the field and a perfect 5-for-5 at the free throw line for Valley Christian.

Anna E. Giannopoulos added 14 points, five rebounds, three assists and two steals. Anna Y. Giannopoulos and Mya Moran each had 10 points to round out the scoring leaders for the Warriors.

McKenzie Zuhlke and Taylor Hoffman each scored 13 points to lead CWC.

FOND DU LAC - After getting off to a slow start, down 7-0 early and trailing by as many as 11, the Ledgers climbed back to cut the deficit to three at the break. Thereafter, Springs overwhelmed the Rockets in the second half to claim career victory number 400 for Springs head coach Kyle Krueger.

Noah Moul had a double-double with 22 points, 16 rebounds and Ben Baker added 16 points, five blocks and three steals for the Ledgers.

Owen Gilke led CG-B with 23 points, eight rebounds, three assists and three steals.

ELKHART LAKE - The Oaks never trailed at any point, although Elkhart got to within one with seven minutes left. Oakfield outscored the Resorters by six in each half to secure a double-digit victory on opening night.

Mitchell Moser scored a game-high 30 points for the Oaks on 10-of-16 shooting from the field, including six three-pointers.

Brody Feldmann led Elkhart Lake with 24 points, eight rebounds and four assists. Ashton Thuecks added 23 for the Resorters.

FOND DU LAC - After trailing by 10 at the half, Fondy couldn't make up the ground to earn a victory on opening night, falling to the Trojans.

Rocky Barfknecht had a double-double with 23 points, which tied for the game-high, and 10 rebounds to lead the Cardinals. Eli Braatz added six points and 13 rebounds.

Jake Hansen also had 23 points to pace Wauwatosa West. Kai Rogers followed with 16 points and Braedyn Parker scored 10 for the Trojans.

Parker Ingles went 7-for-10 from beyond the arc, finishing with a game-high 28 points along with seven rebounds for Winneconne. Cohen Reetz added 17 points and eight boards and Brody Schaffer had 14 and seven with three assists.

Jesus Juarez led North Fondy with 15 points and four steals. Dimitri Reed added 14 points for the Orioles and Abe Maurer had 11.
