In between creating hilarious content on TikTok and working on the new season of Kids Baking Championship, there's no question that Valerie Bertinelli is super busy. But even still, the Food Network star is taking some time to reflect on something from her past.

Back in January, the Valerie's Home Cooking host made an appearance on The Kelly Clarkson Show. In between discussing moments of self-love in Hollywood, Valerie reflected on the moment she reconnected with her late ex-husband Eddie Van Halen a few years before his death in October 2020. As she recalled to Kelly, the two actually fell back into step with one another when she brought over some food to their son Wolfie's house one night. He happened to be visiting, and, as they say, the rest is history.

"I took the leftovers 'cause I always, you know have stuff at home too, because I'm always practicing before I do it," she said. "And I took it over to Wolfie's house and that's when Ed came by. And it all starts the whole story of this reconnection that Ed and I had in the last few years of his life."

The Hot in Cleveland actress and Van Halen lead guitarist divorced in 2007 after 27 years of marriage. Despite the parting of ways, Valerie noted that there was always love between them. But instead of the love being romantic, she revealed their bond quickly turned into more of a brother-sister kind.

"I know so many people get mad at me when I say that there was a love that Ed and I had ... but it’s true,” the Enough Already author acknowledged while tearing up. "I've known the guy since I was 20 years old. I was a baby, and he was just my life for a very long time."

It's clear Valerie was touched by Eddie's presence in her life. Meanwhile, their son announced his engagement to Andraia Allsop on July 6, and she's thrilled to see the next generation of Van Halens shine.
