Myrtle Beach residents will see a difference in upcoming utility bills as rate increases start in August.

The new rates for water, sewer and stormwater services were approved in this year’s budget.

The rate for solid waste services did not change.

Water rates increased by 4%, and sewer charges increased by 5%.

The rise in prices is mostly caused by Grand Strand Water and Sewer Authority raising wholesale costs.

The city’s stormwater fee will be $1.67 more every month per equivalent residential unit, according to the city.

This means a typical family that uses 4,000 gallons of water each month will see a $4.25 increase for the utility bills every month, according to a city press release.
