USS Arizona Memorial boat tours to resume at Pearl Harbor after coronavirus shutdown

After months of closure due to the coronavirus pandemic, the National Park Service has announced that limited boat tours to the USS Arizona at the Pearl Harbor National Memorial will resume on Friday.

The USS Arizona sank in 1941 during the Japanese attack on Hawaii, and the tour takes visitors to a memorial that now stands above the sunken ship in Pearl Harbor. The tours will be limited to 50 people at a time, with advance reservations needed, and all guests must wear face masks. Due to the smaller number of total tours, visitors will be allowed to stay at the memorial site for longer than usual.

Across the country, national parks have been gradually reopening on a case-by-case basis. Some, like Yellowstone, have been at least partially open since May.
