South Carolina has one quarterback committed for the 2024 class in Dante Reno. The Gamecocks have also offered 2024 QB Jayden Bradford of Chapin and IMG Academy.

Another quarterback in the class who is on the radar of QBs coach and offensive coordinator Marcus Satterfield is Brenton Toles (6-1, 180) of Brandywine, Maryland.

Toles is a dual-threat quarterback. Satterfield first put eyes on him at a camp in June 2021. The two met up again when Toles visited South Carolina for the Texas A&M game.

“We had a good talk after the game,” Toles said. “He said he liked my size when we met in person because we haven’t seen each other June 20, 2021, the last camp I attended at South Carolina. I got bigger. He responded to my film a week after the game and said he loved it.”

The Gamecocks had a good day that day, defeating the Aggies for the first time in front of a sellout crowd at Williams-Brice Stadium.

“It was a great atmosphere, definitely better than any other colleges that I’ve been to,” Toles said. “What stood out was a lot of the fans greeting me just walking through the tunnel.”

Toles, of course, focused on the USC offense and how Satterfield runs things. He came away thinking it’s an offense where his skills would fit in.

“They run the ball a lot with the running backs, power backs that he has,” Toles said. “Once they get the chance to go up top with play fake and all of that, I can see myself succeeding in the offense real good. He likes my way of getting the ball out fast.”

Satterfield has not offered Toles, but he’s optimistic about getting that call from him at some point.

“Do I have a feeling?” Toles said. “Yeah. It’s a couple of quarterbacks in my class, and I think one of them has already committed to South Carolina in my class. But I actually feel like I have the best shot with South Carolina.”

Toles has offers from Maryland, Virginia Tech, Marshall, Towson and Bethune-Cookman. The USC visit has been the only one he’s made this season, but this Saturday he is going to Maryland for the Ohio State game. He hopes to make a return visit to USC before he makes a decision, probably in March.

This season Toles passed for 1,988 yards with 23 touchdowns and two interceptions. Last season he passed for 2,186 yards.
