This Is Us star Justin Hartley has been cast alongside Rebel Wilson in the action-comedy Bride Hard.

Directed by Simon West (Con Air), and written by Cece Pleasants and Shaina Steinberg, the movie unleashes Wilson as a badass secret agent whose best friend's wedding is upended by a group of villainous mercenaries.

Hartley's involvement was confirmed by Deadline, with Anna Camp (True Blood), Stephen Dorff (Blade), Gigi Zumbado (The Rookie), Anna Chlumsky (Veep), Sam Huntington (Superman Returns), Da'Vine Joy Randolph (Only Murders in the Building) and Sherry Cola (Joy Ride) filling out the rest of its ensemble.

Bride Hard has already wrapped production, but when the cameras were still rolling, Pitch Perfect favourite Wilson required stitches after being whacked in the face with a gun on set.

Addressing her injury via Instagram earlier this month, the Australian told fans: "So I just wanted to say thank you for all your well-wishes. I've actually been healing quite amazing[ly].

"The stitches have dissolved from my on-set accident last week. I was shooting an independent movie in Savannah, Georgia. In the middle of a night shoot, my last scene of the movie, I'd done all these kick-ass fight sequences and then just, in the last one, I got hit in the face with the butt of a gun. It was a complete accident and such a shock."

"But, luckily, I'm healing very well so I just wanted to say thank you for everybody's well wishes," Wilson added.

"Hopefully I will be totally fine. It was really fun doing an action movie, but [filming] can be dangerous at times. But I'm all good, so thanks everybody."
