This Is Us' Mandy Moore lands next movie role in Insidious spin-off
This Is Us actress Mandy Moore is teaming up with Marvel's Kumail Nanjiani for the next chapter of the Insidious franchise.
According to Deadline, the duo are onboard spin-off Thread: An Insidious Tale as a husband and wife team who travel back in time with the help of a spell to prevent the death of their daughter.
Insidious being Insidious, though, the consequences of their actions prove to be horrifying.

Launched 13 years ago, the demonic Insidious franchise currently comprises five movies, with The Red Door set for release later this summer, yet Thread shoots off from the central story of Josh and Renai Lambert.
Moon Knight creator Jeremy Slater is onboard to write the script for the movie, as well as direct.
Nanjiani, meanwhile, is currently shooting a sequel to Ghostbusters: Afterlife alongside Carrie Coon, Paul Rudd, Patton Oswalt, James Acaster, Finn Wolfhard and Mckenna Grace. Plot details are yet to be confirmed, but hopefully it will develop more than Afterlife, which Digital Spy described as "an empty attempt to placate old fans rather than do something new" in our review at the time.

The Eternals star also teamed up with fellow Marvel member Taika Waititi in a brand new comedy, History of the World Part II, earlier this year in which they joined a cast adding a comedic spin to historic events. A sequel to Mel Brooks' classic 1981 film, it is not yet known whether the show will be picked up for a third outing, and if so, hopefully it won't take another 40+ years.
Insidious: The Red Door will be released in cinemas on July 7, 2023, while spin-off Thread: An Insidious Tale is yet to receive a release window.
