Upstate high school baseball Super 25 power rankings as playoffs reach district finals

Here are the latest Super 25 South Carolina high school baseball power rankings for the Upstate area prior to the district championship games.

1. Easley

Record: 28-4

Previous ranking (April 22): 1

What to know: Easley is the No. 3 overall seed among 16 in its Class AAAA Upper State bracket and won three straight games to earn home field for the final.

2. Powdersville

Record: 19-9

Previous ranking: 4

What to know: Powdersville is the No. 1 seed in its Class AAA district and beat Emerald and Seneca to secure a spot in the final.

3. Blue Ridge

Record: 19-4

Previous ranking: 2

What to know: Blue Ridge was the No. 1 seed of its Class AAA district but lost to Union County and had to work through the losers’ bracket for a rematch in the final.

4. Daniel

Record: 18-10

Previous ranking: 9

What to know: Daniel was the No. 2 seed in its Class AAA district, but beat Travelers Rest and Wren to earn home field in the final against Wren.

5. Greer

Record: 22-9

Previous ranking: 7

What to know: Greer rallied from an opening loss in the Class AAAA playoffs to win two games and make it to the play-game for the final.

6. Dorman

Record: 17-15

Previous ranking: 8

What to know: Dorman was the fourth seed in its Class AAAAA district but beat Blythewood and Hillcrest to earn home field in the title game.

7. Spartanburg

Record: 18-15

Previous ranking: 15

What to know: Spartanburg beat Rock Hill in a Class AAAAA losers’ bracket game  and reached the district final.

8. J.L. Mann

Record: 13-11

Previous ranking: Not ranked.

What to know: J.L. Mann came from the No. 3 seed in its Class AAAAA district to beat Clover and Byrnes for home field in the title game.

9. Union County

Record: 14-12

Previous ranking: 20

What to know: Union County was the No. 3 seed in its Class AAA district but beat Belton-Honea Path and Blue Ridge to earn home field in the final.

10. Southside Christian

Record: 22-7

Previous ranking: 14

What to know: Southside Christian was the No. 1 seed of Class A district and went 2-0 to reach the final.

11. Byrnes

Record: 20-7

What to know: Byrnes was a No. 1 seed in its Class AAAAA district but lost to J.L. Mann and Gaffney.

12. T.L. Hanna

Record: 17-14

Previous ranking: 16

What to know: Hanna was the No. 1 seed in its Class AAAAA district but went two and out against Rock Hill and Spartanburg.

13. Belton Honea-Path

Record: 20-10

Previous ranking: 6

What to know: Belton-Honea Path went 1-2 in its Class AAA bracket, beating Pendleton before being knocked out by Blue Ridge.

14. Fountain Inn

Record: 17-8

Previous ranking: 13

What to know: Fountain Inn was the No. 3 seed in its Class AAA district but beat Woodruff and then No. 1 seed Crescent to earn home field in the final.

15. Gaffney

Record: 13-17

Previous ranking: 21

What to know: Gaffney was an at-large selection in its Class AAAAA district but after losing to Byrnes, came back to beat Clover and win a rematch against Byrnes to reach the final against J.L. Mann.

16. Riverside

Record: 15-15

Previous ranking: 12

What to know: Riverside was seeded 10th among 16 in the Class AAAA Upper State and lost its first game, but then won a pair to reach the play-in game for a spot in the bracket final.

17. Wren

Record: 14-14

Previous ranking: 5

What to know: Wren was the No. 4 seed in its Class AAA district but beat Clinton twice, including an elimination game, to reach the final.

18. Boiling Springs

Record: 17-10

Previous ranking: 17

What to know: Boiling Springs went 1-2 in its Class AAAAA district, beating Woodmont but losing to Dutch Fork and Fort Mill.

19. Woodruff

Record: 12-15

Previous ranking: Not ranked.

What to know: Woodruff won two games in the losers’ bracket against Broome and Crescent to make the Class AAA district final.

20. Chesnee

Record: 10-16

Previous ranking: Not ranked.

What to know: Chesnee was the No. 1 seed in its Class AA district but went 1-2, losing twice to Ninety-Six.

21. Hillcrest

Record: 12-13

Previous ranking: Not ranked.

What to know: Hillcrest was a No. 2 seed in its Class AAAAA district and opened with a win against Nation Ford.

22. Greenville

What to know: Greenville went 0-2 in its Class AAAA bracket, falling to North Augusta and Eastside.
