UNH Roundup: Men's hockey falls to UMass; women beat Boston College
AMHERST, Mass. – Samuli Niinisaari's two goals led the University of Massachusetts men's hockey team to a 3-2 win over the University of New Hampshire on Friday in a Hockey East matchup at the Mullins Center.
Junior forward Robert Cronin and freshman forward Marty Lavins each scored a goal for the Wildcats, who are now 16-12-1 overall and 9-9-1 in Hockey East. UMass is 17-9-3, and 10-7-1 in Hockey East.
Lavins scored his goal with 2.4 seconds left in the game.
The two teams meet Saturday at the Whittemore Center with a 7 p.m. scheduled start,

DURHAM – Annie Berry and Tamara Thiérus both had a goal and an assist to lead the University of New Hampshire women’s hockey team to Friday’s 3-1 victory against Boston College at the Whittemore Center.
With the win, UNH (16-15-2 overall, 13-11-2 Hockey East) climbed past BC (14-2-7, 13-8-5) into third place in the Hockey East standings and secured a home quarterfinal game, which will be played Saturday, March 2 (6 p.m.) against an opponent to be determined.
Freshman goalie Sedona Blair was credited with 28 saves, including 13 in the third period. Senior Chavonne Truter scored an empty-net goal with 1:55 remaining in regulation to secure the win.
