Such is the case with Ultimate Look salon owner Lorie Tipple and her daughters, Melissa Tipple and Jennifer Eshelman. They all work at the Ultimate Look's three various locations.

The Ultimate Look I is located at 1440 Tiki Lane. The Ultimate Look II is at 425 N. Columbus St. and The Ultimate Look III is located at 562 W. Sixth Ave.

"I love it," Lorie Tipple said of working with her daughters. "I never thought my daughters would want to work with their mom. But we have the perfect scenario because we have three locations. Jennifer works at No. 3, Melissa works at No. 2 and I work somewhere different every day. So it works perfect."

Melissa Tipple said one of the benefits of working together is that all three think alike and that they are good at making decisions together.

"I don't really see any cons," she said. "We help each other out very well. What one can't get to the other one does."

Lorie Tipple said the trio has each other's backs.

"We definitely all think alike, for the most part," she said. "What one doesn't think of, the other one does."

While Lorie Tipple is a mother, she's also a boss. She said she shows no favoritism towards her daughters when in the boss role. Tipple said her daughters and the other employees respect that.

The family members and the other employees have regular Zoom meetings to discuss the business. They had met in person before the COVID-19 pandemic. But they started meeting virtually then and have stayed with that meeting method.

Regarding the COVID pandemic, Lorie Tipple said it was a challenging time, of which her daughters agreed.

"I think after being off work for a couple months I think we all went back into it and worked really well together, even all the stylists and everything," Melissa Tipple said. "All the clients felt comfortable and they were ready to come back. Everybody wants to get their hair and nails done."

Lorie Tipple said the pandemic made her realize how much someone's life can change.

"I'd never been off work for that long," she said. "So we all appreciated our job even more, and so did our clients. They were lined up to come back in."

Tipple and her daughters plan on celebrating Mother's Day by going out to eat. Eshelman said she appreciates Mother's Day more following the death of her father.

Melissa Tipple said she agrees with her sister and that she loves Mother's Day.

"I love celebrating our mom," she said. "It just makes us realize how blessed we are to have her and have theses businesses and that she teaches us so much. I think from where I first started until now of how much I've learned and grown because of my mom. She's been so successful and she's really been good in guiding us."

Lorie Tipple said she also lost her father at a young age.

"Not that I didn't appreciate my mom," she said. "But now it's even more special for all of us to get together. We are a very tight-knit family. So I appreciate Mother's Day. I just love being together."
