UK basketball commit Reed Sheppard helps Eastern Kentucky. And other top recruiting links.
This past weekend was a special one for the Kentucky men’s basketball program, as the annual Blue-White Game took place in Pikeville as a way to raise awareness and money for flood relief efforts in Eastern Kentucky.
While the showcase moment came with the 2022-23 UK men’s team holding an intrasquad scrimmage at Appalachian Wireless Arena in Pikeville, a future Wildcat also made an impact in the city Saturday.
Class of 2023 in-state UK commit Reed Sheppard hosted a basketball camp for young children Saturday afternoon in Pikeville, with the funds going toward SOAR: Shaping Our Appalachian Region.
“It means a lot, being able to do this and give back to the community and be able to come out and hang out with the kids,” said Sheppard, who is the son of two former UK basketball players.
“I looked up to a lot of high school players, especially ones that were going and playing at Kentucky, being a Kentucky fan.”
