UIL softball playoff roundup: El Paso teams recap of bi-district round
The bi-district round of the UIL softball playoffs are underway, here is a look at how El Paso teams are faring.
Thursday's games
Class 6A
Eastwood won the series opener against Midland Legacy, 8-0. Miranda Guillen was the winning pitcher with 10 strikeouts and Chole Mena helped lead the offense with three RBIs.
Socorro lost the series opener at Midland High, 5-4.
Class 5A
Del Valle is headed to the area round for the second straight season after sweeping Burges, 15-0 and 12-1, on Thursday. Remi Barron and Juliana Santos were the winning pitchers, Ya Ya Morgan had four hits and Barron had a home run.
Chapin advanced to area with a 13-3 home win vs. Hanks. Khole Jensen was the winning pitcher with four strikeouts, Haylee Hernandez had three hits and Fati Hernandez and Yari Acosta each hit home runs.
Canutillo is moving on to area after sweeping Parkland, 13-5 and 10-0. Alina Banda was the winning pitcher in both games.
Class 4A
Bowie won its first bi-district title by sweeping MountainView.
San Elizario won its second straight bi-district title by defeating Austin, 15-0. Abby Rios was the winning pitcher.
