Tyler Perry brought to tears by Sara Haines during emotional exchange on 'The View'

Sara Haines brings a daily dose of "Iowa Nice" to the Hot Topics Table on "The View" and the Nov. 7 episode was no different. Except this time, there were tears, too — from Tyler Perry.

The media mogul stopped by the nation's No. 1 daytime talk show, co-hosted by the Newton native, to promote the new Prime Video documentary, "Maxine's Baby: The Tyler Perry Story."

The film traces his journey as the son of his late mother Maxine who became one of the country's only Black billionaires following the success of his "Madea" movie franchise. According to Page Six, Maxine died in 2009.

Haines and Perry had an emotional exchange about five minutes into his "View" stop after she complimented the movie.

'I met Maxine through all of it:' Iowa native's remarks bring tears

"This film I will watch every time I need to find my own power because I wanted to run laps when I got done, it was so well done," Haines said before later adding, "I met Maxine through all of it. I didn't know her."

Then, Perry paused the interview before stumbling through a few words and said, "To say that you met her through that, that takes me somewhere because she — this woman endured so much pain. She didn't have some legacy, but she had me. To say that I was able to introduce her to you, you got me there, man. I'm sorry. Lord, have mercy."

Perry thanked Haines and said he appreciated her response.

"From the mouth of blondes," moderator Whoopi Goldberg then joked.

Haines thanked Perry for sharing his mother's story and said her legacy lived on in the Louisiana-born filmmaker and his son, Aman, before the pair continued to discuss his difficult childhood.

Haines opens up about emotional exchange on post-show podcast

On a post-show episode of "The View" companion podcast "Behind the Table," Haines opened up with executive producer and podcast host Brian Teta.

"What was going through your head in that moment when he had that reaction?" Teta asked.

"Well, the reaction was beautiful, and people were saying to me 'Oh, great job' and I'm like 'There's nothing I did here.' My response was to his project, and it's the response most people will have," Haines said.

"The View" airs at 10 a.m. central time on local ABC affiliates. The program is celebrating its 27th season, which premiered in September, with co-hosts Haines, Goldberg, Alyssa Farah Griffin, Sunny Hostin, Joy Behar and Ana Navarro.
