Tyla Has to Be Lifted up 2024 Met Gala Steps in Dress Made of Sand

Singer Tyla made her debut at the 2024 Met Gala stunning fans with her dress literally made of sand, but a new video showed just how challenging the gown was to wear as she was lifted up each step because she couldn't walk up them herself.

The dress, which was based on the "Sands of Time" concept to fit with the "Garden of Time" theme, was sculpted to her body by Balmain, showing off her hourglass-shaped figure as she carried a real hourglass by her side.

Fans soon found footage of her journey up the iconic steps that was hindered by the dress' stiff structure, with one person sharing a clip and exclaiming, "NOT THEM LIFTING TYLA UP THE STAIRS DNDNDJSJ [sic]."

"You don’t need to breathe, walk, or sit. Just serve the look 😂😂 it’s not easy being Her #MetGala," wrote a fan of the look on X, as others reacted, "Okay this type of Princess treatment >>>," and "Tyla is the moment period!!!!"

More called the moment "iconic" and cheered the singer on, as someone added, "Love this for her." But although many were supportive of Tyla's struggles for fashion, some people felt like it wasn't worth the trouble.

In response to a video on E! News' Instagram page, a lot of people called the situation "ridiculous," as one critic wrote, "Its a No for me. And how embarrassing having a person carry you."

"I'm sorry but I don't like it, she's flawless but this casket no," commented another who didn't like the dress, with quite a few people saying that the ability to walk up the Met Gala steps on your own should be a requirement for a guest's outfit.
