Two Spring Hill teens dead, others seriously injured after crashing into a tree

Two Spring Hill teens have died and two others are seriously injured after a 17-year-old male driver from Spring Hill crashed into a tree Saturday night, the Florida Highway Patrol reported.

Around 11:05 p.m., the driver of a Toyota Camry was heading south on Mariner Boulevard in Spring Hill, north of Santee Street, when he failed to follow a curve in the roadway. He drove off the road while rotating and overturned on the front yard of a private residence at 6225 Mariner Blvd. The vehicle collided with a tree.

Six people were in the car total. Two passengers from Spring Hill, ages 16 and 17, were pronounced dead at a local hospital. Two other 16-year-old boys from Spring Hill remain at the hospital with serious injuries. According to the news release, none of these four passengers were wearing seatbelts.

The driver, as well as a 16-year-old female passenger from Brooksville, were not injured. They were wearing seatbelts.

Because of their ages, none of the people involved in the crash were named in the release.
