The Wilmington Police Department is investigating the deaths of two pedestrians on South College Road after they were struck by vehicles in two different incidents Saturday.

Wilmington police officers responded to the first incident on the 100 block of South College Road around 4:30 a.m. on March, 9, 2024, according to a press release.

The pedestrian, Steven Barlok, a 40-year-old man from New Hanover County, died after being struck by a vehicle, according to the release.

"Our prayers and condolences are with the family of Mr. Barlok during this very difficult time," the release stated.

The Wilmington Police Department Traffic Enforcement Unit is further investigating the events leading up to, and surrounding the incident. At this time there are no additional details that can be released regarding this incident.

Wilmington Police Department responded to another vehicle collision on Saturday night that killed a pedestrian on South College Road. Units responded to this incident on the 300 block of South College Road around 10:41 p.m., according to a separate press release.

The pedestrian has been identified as Edward Williams, a 56-year-old man from Wilmington.

EMS attempted life-saving measures but Williams later died from his injuries at Novant Health New Hanover Regional Medical Center.

"We offer prayers and condolences to the friends and family of Mr. Williams," the release stated.

This case is still under investigation by the Wilmington Police Department. No other details are available at this time.
