Two Dothan women accused of lying to police about sexual assault

DOTHAN, Ala (WDHN) — Two Dothan women are facing charges after Dothan Police officials claimed they lied about a sexual assault to investigators in February.

According to Dothan Police, on February 17, officers rushed to a local hospital after a woman, identified as 19-year-old Erika Holloway, reported she was sexually assaulted at a home in the 2500 block of Choctaw Street.

In a Tuesday release, Lt. Scott Owens said Holloway and a witness, 26-year-old Chasity Scrimpsher, gave multiple statements to detectives about the alleged crime and the suspect, but during a lengthy investigation, detectives found several inconsistencies in the women’s stories.

Lt. Owens says that when detectives confronted Holloway and Scrimpsher about the inconsistencies, the two women admitted they lied to detectives.

Holloway and Scrimpsher were charged with one count of false reporting to law enforcement.

The release stated the person accused by Holloway and Scrimpsher was exonerated of all blame related to the case.
