Two dogs maul California woman, 80: officials

A Southern California woman has lost her life after she was attacked by two dogs during her morning walk, according to authorities.

Soon Han, 80, was found unresponsive Friday in the street in Baldy Mesa, about 35 miles north of San Bernardino, shortly after 11 a.m. local time, according to a statement from the Victor Valley Sheriff’s Department.

Han is believed to have been “out for a walk when she was attacked by two dogs from a nearby home,” said authorities.

The Dogo Argentino canines inflicted “major injuries” on Han, who was pronounced dead at the scene, said authorities.

San Bernardino County Animal Control will hold onto the dogs pending investigation and a vicious dog hearing, according to the statement.

The tragic mauling comes days after two children were killed and their mother was hospitalized after the family’s two pit bulls attacked them outside their family home in Tennessee.

Kirstie Jane Bennard, 30, suffered multiple injuries when she tried to pull the dogs off her 5-month-old son Hollace Dean and 2-year-old daughter Lilly Jane, who were killed in the Oct. 5 attack.
