A Nichols woman was arrested after two children who were in her care tested positive for drugs, including cocaine.

It is not clear if the woman is the mother of the children, but they live in the same residence, according to a police incident report.

Tameka Chantal Abraham, 41, was charged by Horry County Police with two counts of unlawfully placing a child at risk or harm after her children tested positive for drugs, according to an arrest warrant. One child tested positive for marijuana and cocaine and the other marijuana, the report said. Abraham also tested positive for both drugs after a screening April 20, 2024, of her and the victims’ hair follicles.

It is unclear from the report what led to the drug testing of the victims. The children were removed from the home and placed with a person in a separate home, the report said.

Abraham was booked into J. Reuben Long Detention Center on May 21, 2024, and was released on a $2,000 bond.
