Two charged after several Fayetteville apartments pierced by gunfire

Two Fayetteville teens were arrested earlier this month after allegedly firing dozens of gunshots that pierced four units at a South Reilly Road apartment complex.

Achilles Quaron Russell, 19, and Ismael Sabla, 18, are each charged with 11 counts of discharging a weapon into an occupied property and one count each of possession with intent to sell/manufacture/deliver marijuana, injury to personal property, maintaining a dwelling, possession of marijuana paraphernalia and conspiracy.

The 11 counts represent the 11 people who were inside three of the four apartments hit by the gunfire. At least two of the victims were children. No injuries were reported.

Sabla and Russell were arrested the day of the shooting after an officer who was in the area heard the gunshots May 6 and stopped a speeding silver sedan containing the two, the record states.

During the stop, weapons were spotted, and ultimately police were given video footage by a neighbor that allegedly captured the two men emerging from the sedan about 11 a.m. and opening fire on the apartment building in the 1000 block of Wood Creek Drive.

A rifle and 9 mm handgun were located inside the vehicle, the record states.

Russell was booked May 6 into the Cumberland County jail on $250,000 bail, arrest records show.

Sabla was approved for electronic monitoring May 8 and released from jail, arrest records show. The conditions of his pretrial release prohibit him from entering pawn shops or possessing firearms, the record states.
