TVLine Items: P-Valley Docuseries Hosted by Nicco Annan, Black Twitter Doc Release Date and More

Starz will trek to the Deep South with the upcoming docuseries Down in the Valley, premiering sometime this year.

Inspired by the vibrant world of P-Valley, the six-episode series will see host and executive producer Nicco Annan, aka Uncle Clifford in the NAACP Image Award-winning drama, “immersed in the people, sensuality, music, culture, and stories of the South,” per the official synopsis. “From strip clubs to sex workshops, rap performances, and ancient hoodoo rituals, Annan, as well as the audience, will experience it all.”

The doc is also produced by P-Valley creator Katori Hall and Shoshana Guy (The 1619 Project, High on the Hog: How African American Cuisine Transformed America), who served as showrunner.

Kamau Bell, cultural critic Roxane Gay, journalist Jemele Hill, TV writer and The Read host Kid Fury, #OscarsSoWhite creator April Reign, activist and comedian Amanda Seales and more.

* Turner Classic Movies (TCM) on Saturday, April 6 will premiere Two for One, a 12-week series in which filmmakers such as Steven Spielberg, Patty Jenkins, Rian Johnson and Spike Lee introduce any two films of their  choosing, then offer commentary on the double feature’s cultural significance, its influence on other films and their own personal reflections.

* Max Greenfield (The Neighborhood) will recur on Mindy Kaling’s untitled comedy about the new president of a pro basketball franchise, playing the “good-natured pediatrician” fiancé of Kate Hudson’s lead character.

* The Morning Show’s Karen Pittman and Wood Harris (The Wire, Empire) will star opposite Michael Cooper Jr. and Lovie Simone (Power Book III: Raising Kanan) in Forever, Netflix’s reimagining of the Judy Blume novel from Mara Brock Akil (Girlfriends, Black Lightning), our sister site Deadline reports.

* Carl Weber’s The Family Business offshoot The Family Business New Orleans has added 18 (!!!) to appear alongside stars Brandon T. Jackson and Lela Rochon, including Ben Stephens, Pooch Hall, Quincy Brown, David Banner, Yvette Nicole Brown, Orlando Jones, Nicole Galicia, Erica Hubbard, Sarah Carter, Stan Shaw, Bernnadette Stanis, Nayirah Teshali, Sacaiha Shaw, Jenson Atwood, AzMarie Livingston, Deric Augustine, Kayla Nicole and Nicholas Turturro.

* Freevee has released a trailer for the new comedy Dinner With The Parents, starring Tiny Beautiful Things’ Michaela Watkins and premiering Thursday, April 18:
