TVLine Items: Bluey Minisodes, Ohtani Interpreter Scandal Series and More

Can’t get enough of Bluey? Then you’re in luck, because Disney+ and Disney Jr. will roll out a series of “minisodes” beginning this July.

The 20 one- to three-minute shorts “highlight funny and sweet moments featuring Bluey and Bingo, leaning into playful interactions and games that further explore the characters and world of Bluey,” per the official description. Bluey creator Joe Brumm penned the new installments.

As previously reported, the Bluey Season 2 episode “Dad Baby,” which is currently the only one missing from Disney+’s Stateside collection, has been made available to view on YouTube. Meanwhile, the show’s April 14 extra-long special, “The Sign,” stands as the most-viewed Disney Junior premiere and Bluey episode premiere ever on Disney+.

* Lionsgate Television is developing a scripted series based on the gambling scandal surrounding LA Dodgers player Shohei Ohtani and his interpreter, Ippei Mizuhara, who allegedly stole $16 million from Ohtani to pay off gambling debts. The project does not yet have a network/outlet attached.

* Tony Hawk, Shaun White, Zoey Deutch, Tyler Posey, Retta, Tre Hale and Rob Riggle have joined the Roku Channel original movie The Real Bros of Simi Valley: High School Reunion, a continuation of co-creators’ Jimmy Tatro and Christian Pierce’s series, premiering Friday, July 5.

* P-Valley has promoted Gail Bean (aka Roulette), Bertram Williams Jr (Woddy) and Thomas Q. Jones (Mane) to series regulars for Season 3, our sister site Deadline reports.

* Hulu has ordered to pilot the car-racing comedy Downforce (working title), from Silicon Valley writers Alec Berg and Adam Countee, per Variety. In the potential series, “when the heiress to a dynastic racing team is thrust back into the family business, she needs to make some hard choices about the future of the team and her family’s legacy,” reads the official synopsis.

* Netflix has released a trailer for its Exploding Kittens animated comedy series, featuring the voice of Tom Ellis (Lucifer) and premiering this July:
