Tuesday roundup: 'Wanger' came up clutch again for Morgan baseball.

WEST LAFAYETTE — Logan Niceswanger broke a tie game with a two-run single in the top of the eighth inning, and visiting Morgan held on for a 9-7 win against host Ridgewood in a nonleague game.

Tied at 5, the Raiders (11-8) had runners on first and second with one out after Tavian Myers drew a one-out walk. Niceswanger followed with the go-ahead RBI, then Witten Schaad sent home another run two batters later.

Schaad's hit loomed large after the Generals (7-15) scored twice in the bottom half of the inning on a pair of two-out walks, but Kole Searl got the final out to seal the win.

Myers had three singles, Searl a double and single and Rance Eddleblute two singles for Morgan, which held a 12-4 edge in hits. The Raiders won despite walking 16 batters.

Caleb Schultz blasted a grand slam and drove in five runs for Ridgewood, which had only four hits. Jace McQueen added a double.

Cohen Parsons and Jackson Cabot combined to allow 10 hits and four earned runs in 7⅓ innings. They struck out five.

River View 7, Coshocton 1: The Black Bears scored all of their runs in the first three innings in a Muskingum Valley League crossover win at Lake Park.

Maguire Werntz struck out six and yielded no runs in six four-hit innings for River View (8-13). All of Coshocton's hits were singles.

Layton Massie had three singles and Nick Phillips and Werntz two for the winners. Mack Wilson and Brody Buxton had two RBIs.

Coby Moore pitched six innings to take the loss for Coshocton (3-20).

John Glenn 16, Zanesville 4 (5 inn.): Noah Winland slugged a pair of doubles to pace the Muskies' 15-hit onslaught in a nonleague win at Jay Payton Field.

Ross Lake and Carter Merry had three singles for John Glenn (6-16), which scored seven times in the third inning to overcome a 3-2 deficit after one inning. Jesse Driskell doubled and singled with two RBIs and Wylee Woodard drove in two runs with two singles for the Muskies; Owen Edwards added a double and scored three times.

Ryan Gallitz struck out five in five innings to earn the win.

Avery Mohler allowed five earned runs in 4⅔ innings of relief to take the loss for Zanesville (6-17-1). Canon Mercer doubled and singled and Solomon Norris tripled home two runs to lead the offense.

Sheridan 4, Gahanna Cols. Academy 2: Tyler Turnes scattered six hits in a complete game for the Generals (22-3), who won their third straight game in a nonleague road tilt.

Turnes struck out six and didn't yield a walk as 63 of his 85 pitches went for strikes. The Generals scored all four of their runs in the final three innings.

Caden Sheridan and Monty Eden had doubles and Eden also singled to pace Sheridan, which had six hits and committed no errors.

The Vikings fell to 10-13.

Cambridge 7, Martins Ferry 5: The Bobcats rallied to collect the Buckeye 8 road victory over the Purple Riders on Tuesday afternoon.

Trailing 3-0 after four innings of play, Cambridge exploded for a four-run fifth inning to take the 4-3 lead and held on for the win.

Senior Regan Rogers paced the nine hit Cambridge attack with a pair of base hits with an RBI. Senior Bradyn Gregg, Michael Micale, senior Coen Stoner, and senior Keaton Kyser each added RBI singles for the winners.

Mason Gregg tossed a complete game effort, allowing five runs on eight hits with nine strikeouts and three walks for the Bobcats who improve to 13-6 on the year.

Tri-Valley 4, Sunbury Big Walnut 4 (13 inn.): The Golden Eagles tied the game with a run in the bottom of the 10th to salvage a tie in a nonleague game in Sunbury.

Tri-Valley (19-2-1) scored a run in the seventh to tie the game at 3, then took a 4-3 lead in the top of the 10th when Brady Kaufman scored on Ashton Sensibaugh's double.

Kade Hindel had a double and three singles and also pitched 6⅓ innings of three-hit, one-run relief for Tri-Valley, which also received a triple and single from Kaufman as part of a 12-hit attack.

Tri-Valley starter Kyler Brennan allowed three earned runs in 6⅔ innings.

Rosecrans 9, Berne Union 3: Mikey Burkhart scattered six hits in 6⅓ innings as the Bishops (16-7) rolled to a Mid-State League-Cardinal Division win at Gant Municipal Stadium.

Burkhart struck out five and walked two while allowing two earned runs. The Bishops scored single runs in the second and third before blowing it open with a five-run fifth, which came after the Rockets tied the game at 2.

Seven players accounted for nine Rosecrans hits, led by Hayden Perdue's double and single. Brendan Bernath and Preston Farrell added doubles and Nick Bernath had three of the team's nine stolen bases.

Softball

Shadyside 16, Rosecrans 8: The Bishops took a 6-3 lead into the bottom of the fourth, but the host Tigers erupted for eight runs and didn't look back in a Division IV sectional game.

Emily Jenkins and Kerry Thompson combined for seven hits and three RBIs for Rosecrans, with Jenkins collecting two doubles and two singles.

Mallory Moody doubled and singled, Kate Ward had two singles and Abby Sagan doubled for the Bishops, who finished 7-12.

Dakota Householder suffered the loss.

Regular season

Morgan 5, Crooksville 1: Malayni Clemens and Alivia Rush combined on a one-hitter with 12 strikeouts for the Raiders (14-4) in an MVL-Small School win at home.

Clemens struck out eight, walked one and didn't yield a hit in four shutout innings to get the win.

Rush hit a homer and Chloe Baker and Myka Augenstein doubled for Morgan, which scored five times in the first three innings.

Gracie Peck's solo homer was Crooksville's lone offensive highlight. Lexi Saffell went the distance to take the loss as the Ceramics fell to 12-11.
