'Tuchel is one of the best coaches in Europe'

BBC Sport's chief football writer Phil McNulty has been answering your questions on all things Premier League.

NMP asked: Thomas Tuchel has had a terrible Bundesliga, losing matches to all direct competitors, and being thoroughly outmatched and outclassed by Xabi Alonso's Bayer Leverkusen. Why would someone who was sacked by Todd Boehly at Chelsea be a success at an unstable Manchester United?

Phil answered: I happen to think Thomas Tuchel is one of the best coaches in Europe.

He got Paris St-Germain to the Champions League final then won the competition with Chelsea. Plenty of Bayern Munich supporters think he should stay and have started a petition. He could still also get them to the Champion League final.

Tuchel, in my opinion, was prematurely sacked by Chelsea but that illustrated another problem that was nothing to do with his football.

There is no doubt that there have been difficulties in relationships with those above him at the clubs where he has coached.

I think he would be a really interesting choice at Manchester United but co-owner Sir Jim Ratcliffe and the club's new structure would have to accept he may challenge them if he is not happy. Do they want that or do they want more stability, perhaps even sticking with Erik ten Hag? We will know soon enough.
