Trump pardons ex-husband of Judge Jeanine Pirro as final act of his presidency

With just minutes left as president, Trump gave a full pardon to Albert Pirro, the tax cheat ex-husband of Judge Jeanine Pirro, one of his staunchest media defenders.

Trump issued the act of clemency in his last hour in office as he arrived at his Mar-a-Lago estate in Florida where he will begin his post-presidency.

Albert Pirro, a real estate lawyer who once worked for Trump, served a year in prison on conspiracy and tax evasion charges.

He was convicted in 2000 of improperly deducting more than $1 million in personal expenses to lower his tax bill.

The pardon, which could wind up being the last official act of Trump’s scandal-tarred presidency, came 10 hours after he granted clemency to a group of more than 100 mostly politically connected white-collar criminals and cronies.

Jeanine Pirro has been one of Trump’s staunchest defenders in the mainstream media from her perch as host of a popular Fox News show. She was frequently spotted at the White House during his four years in power.
