Trump makes it official: He's coming to Wildwood, but no word yet on how to get tickets

WILDWOOD — Donald Trump's presidential campaign has confirmed plans for a May 11 rally on the beach here.

But the announcement said more details — "including the exact timing and how to request tickets" — will be released "in the weeks to come."

The rally is in three weeks.

Wildwood's municipal commission on Monday approved an agreement for the Trump event. It also has not disclosed details about the event.

Wednesday's announcement was distributed by the re-election campaign of U.S. Rep. Jeff Van Drew. The Cape May County Republican is Trump's campaign chairman for New Jersey.

A "save the date" card that accompanied the announcement showed a photograph of Trump and Van Drew during a January 2020 appearance by Trump in the Wildwoods Convention Center.

Van Drew switched parties then, using Trump’s rally as his first major appearance as a Republican.

The photo on the card closely resembled one taken during the 2020 event by a Philadelphia Inquirer photographer.

However, a presidential seal on Trump's podium in the Inquirer photo has been replaced with a similarly shaped graphic that shows Trump's face, part of the American flag, and the words "Official Team Trump."

In a statement, Van Drew asserted the oceanside rally "will be like nothing New Jersey has ever seen."

He said Trump's 2020 appearance "still holds the record for the most tickets ever requested. We have no doubt that this rally will be ever bigger and better," Van Drew said in the announcement.
