Trump-appointed Judge Aileen Cannon should be removed from classified documents case.

Judge Aileen Cannon unfit, needs to go

Aileen Cannon has proven herself unworthy of the high respect that a United States District Court judge is generally owed. Her management of the matter known as "The United States vs. Donald J. Trump" has demonstrated that she lacks the experience, competence and organization to oversee that case and shepherd it to trial. Or, she has purposely put her thumb on the scales of justice to favor the defendant and assure that the matter will not be tried before Nov. 5, 2024. As a result, Cannon has turned the prosecutor's case and her reputation on its head and now she should remove herself from the case for a more experienced colleague.

Cake article brought back memories

I enjoyed reading your article on coconut cake. It brought back fond memories of my grandmother, sending her homemade coconut cake from Virginia every year at Christmas time. I would respectfully like to add another place that is known for its great coconut cake is City Diner, a family owned restaurant on the south end of town; they have quite a following from their days in Palm Beach as well as their neighbors in the antique Road neighborhood. So many of us enjoy reading the food articles and recipes in the Palm Beach Post, thanks.

In retrospect, Trump was that bad

Re the April 4 letter, "In retrospect, Trump wasn't all that bad:" First, let me say that the writer and I are the lucky ones. Our productive years were ones in which New Deal politics ruled and the middle class flourished. In Trump's four-years in office, his administration increased the national debt $8.2 trillion, dumping that onto our children and grandchildren. He completely mishandled the pandemic, causing the U.S. to have one of the highest per capita deaths of any nation. Regarding what Mr. Trump left behind, the border wasn't "stable," and the effects of the pandemic interrupted supply lines world wide. When voting in November, remember to check your lists: dictatorship vs. democracy. Listen to former Vice President Mike Pence and those who served under Trump. Do not vote for him.

New ideas needed for homeowners

Who would want an easy fix? Allow homeowners to set up an Emergency Home Repair account at their bank that will only be used for storm damage. For every $1,000 deposited by the homeowner, the state, federal government or both match each $1,000 up to $50,000. With this account, the homeowner could afford more out-of-pocket repairs faster. This could give breathing room for insurance companies after hurricanes, too. If Florida doesn’t want to loose more citizens and create more homeless, then a solution is needed now. This needs both parties to step up and only thinking about the citizens and not their re-election.
