‘It’s true’: Nicolas Cage marries fifth wife, 26-year-old Riko Shibata, in Las Vegas hotel wedding

Fifth time’s the charm?

Nicolas Cage has tied the knot with wife No. 5, marrying 26-year-old Riko Shibata in an intimate ceremony last month at a Las Vegas hotel, the Oscar-winning actor confirmed Friday.

“It’s true, and we are very happy,” he said in a statement shared by his rep.

The wedding was held at the Wynn Hotel on Feb. 16, which is also Cage’s late father’s birthday, TMZ reported. The ceremony featured traditional Catholic and Shinto vows as well as some poetry and Haiku, Cage’s rep Shannon Barr told the gossip site.

Cage, 57, reportedly met Shibata in her home country of Japan a little over a year ago. He proposed to her last summer while she was back in Japan and he was in the U.S., he told his brother Marc “The Cope” Coppola on a radio show.

“She left New York and went back to Kyoto, Japan, and I went back to Nevada and I haven’t seen her for six months,” Cage said at the time, citing the pandemic restrictions. “We’re really happy together and we’re really excited to spend that time together. So I finally just said, ‘Look, I wanna marry you,’ and we got engaged on FaceTime.”

The “National Treasure” star then sent Shibata an engagement ring via FedEx to make it official. The couple obtained a marriage license in January, records from the Clerk County Clerk’s Office show.

Cage’s previous wives include Patricia Arquette, Lisa Marie Presley and Alice Kim. His last — and shortest — marriage was in 2019, when he married and divorced makeup artist Erika Koike within four days.
