Trivial Pursuit Officially Ordered at The CW, LeVar Burton (Still?!) In Talks to Host
The CW has handed series orders to Trivial Pursuit and Scrabble, new game shows based on the classic Hasbro board games.
Neither series currently has a host, which is likely to raise eyebrows considering Hasbro originally tapped LeVar Burton to serve as Trivial Pursuit‘s emcee and an executive producer. The Emmy winner’s name, however, is conspicuously missing from Thursday’s announcement.

Reps for Burton and The CW declined comment on Burton’s absence from the official press release, although multiple sources close to the production confirm that the Reading Rainbow and Star Trek vet remains in active negotiations to headline and EP the show.
“Trivial Pursuit is one of the best-known brands in the gaming universe,” Burton said back in 2021. “I am thrilled to have partnered with Hasbro and eOne to bring this beloved game to market as a premium show for television.”
First released in 1981, the board game Trivial Pursuit has players answer trivia questions in a variety of categories and try to earn different colored wedges to add to their playing piece. The game became a huge hit, selling more than 100 million copies to date.
The CW’s “reimagined” version will take place on a giant version of the Trivial Pursuit game board, XL wedges and all.
Scrabble, meanwhile, is being described as “a fast-paced take” on the board game, one that will also feature a ginormous Scrabble board game at the center of the set.
