I tried one of the new Girl Scout cookie flavors. Here’s what I thought.

It was a rainy, cold Saturday afternoon, but seeing the Girl Scout tent at my local Walmart in Forsyth, Georgia was a sunshiny sight for sore eyes.

“Hi! What can we get you today?” one of the sweet and friendly faces of the Girl Scout troop asked.

One of everything, I thought to myself.

I was looking for 2023’s new flavor, Raspberry Rally; however, the girls told me it was only available to order online after February 27. I made a note, but I was not going to leave empty-handed today.

So, in that case, I got:

Thin Mints, of course. Two boxes of Tagalongs. One box of Toffee-tastic.

And one box of Adventurefuls.

If you are like me, you haven’t heard of Adventurefuls yet. The cookie debuted in 2022, making it one of the newest flavors added to the troop’s line up.

“Oh, those are really good! It’s like a brownie, but it’s a caramel-y cookie, too,” said one of the Girl Scouts.

Umm, sold!

I paid for the goods and hurried home to try my first Adventurefuls cookie. Something about buying Girl Scout cookies brings out an old, but familiar excitement and certainly, comfort as well.

The nostalgia of working the booth as a trooper, the pure enjoyment of eating the cookies with a big glass of milk after school, the excitement that family and friends have when Girl Scout cookie season rolls around.

It’s like Christmas all over again.

When I got home, I carefully examined the package of Adventurefuls cookies.

“Indulgent, brownie-inspired cookies with caramel-flavored crème and a hint of sea salt,” the box read.

I sat down, tore open the box and grabbed up a cookie.

I took a bite and immediately loved what I was tasting.

The outer part was a crunchy chocolate chip cookie and the inside was a creamy caramel.

I couldn’t taste the hint of salt on my first bite. But the second bite had that extra kick of salty flavor, just like a salted caramel candy.

However, I was expecting the entire cookie to be a soft-baked cookie (similar to a warm brownie). Instead, it was a crispy cookie.

If you like crumbly cookies, this one’s definitely for you; but if you are more of a brownie lover, you may want to stick to soft-baked desserts.

Maybe dipping it in milk will help?
