The U.S. Men’s National Soccer Team is headed to the knockout stages of the World Cup this weekend, and there are a couple places in the Tri-Cities where you can watch.

Saturday, the Yankees will take on the Netherlands National Football Team in a loser-out, round-of-16 game. The U.S. advanced this week after clinching a 1-0 win against Iran.

Qatar is hosting the 2022 FIFA World Cup this year. It’s the first time in history that a Middle-Eastern country has played host to the quadrennial international competition.

The U.S.’s best ever result in a World Cup was a third-place finish in the 1930s. The U.S. team has not advanced beyond the quarterfinals in more than 90 years.

The winner of the game moves on to the quarterfinals where they’ll play the winner of the Argentina-Australia match.

The tournament started out with 32 countries divided into eight groups — known as the “group stages.” The top-two winners from each group advanced this week, with England and U.S. advancing out of Group B.

The Dutch have found recent success in the competition, playing in the 2010 South African World Cup finals against Spain. The Spanish ultimately won 3-2 to win their first-ever championship.

How to watch or stream

Kickoff is set for 7 a.m. Saturday between the U.S. and Netherlands. The two nations will play at Khalifa International Stadium in Al Rayyan, Qatar.
