Treylon Burks returns to Tennessee Titans practice for first time since concussion vs Steelers

Tennessee Titans wide receiver Treylon Burks returned to practice on Wednesday for the first time in nearly a month after missing three games in concussion protocol.

Burks is still in the protocol and will need to progress through practice this week before potentially being cleared to return to full contact activities or play in a game. The Titans (4-7) host the Indianapolis Colts (6-5) at Nissan Stadium on Sunday (noon, CBS).

The Titans drafted Burks in the first round of the 2022 NFL Draft, but the second-year product out of Arkansas has struggled to stay on the field. He missed four games with a toe injury and two games in the concussion protocol as a rookie, then missed three games in October this season with a knee injury before he was sidelined with his second concussion late in the fourth quarter against the Pittsburgh Steelers on Nov. 2.

Burks had to be carted off the field on a stretcher following the injury. Titans coach Mike Vrabel said in the immediate aftermath that Burks' injury wasn't as bad as it initially appeared.

Burks sported a small brace around his neck during the media viewing portion of Wednesday's practice but was able to work through every drill while the media was present. This mainly consisted of route running and footwork drills.

In five games this season, Burks has caught eight passes for 122 yards. He has 41 catches for 566 yards and one touchdown in his 16 career games. In Burks' absence, the Titans' top receivers have been veterans DeAndre Hopkins, Nick Westbrook-Ikhine and Chris Moore, as well as fellow second-year player Kyle Philips.
