Trevor Lawrence Has 1 Main Goal With Jaguars Right Now
Coming off of offseason shoulder surgery, Trevor Lawrence isn’t quite a full go yet for the Jacksonville Jaguars. While he can’t do everything during minicamp, goal No. 1 is to get Urban Meyer‘s playbook down pat.
Lawrence participated in 7-on-7 drills on Monday, though he couldn’t enter team drills. Still, he says he’s improving and getting far more used to the new schemes.
“Obviously, I still have a lot to learn,” Lawrence told the Jaguars website on Monday. “The more you practice something, the better you get at it. So, I still have to get a lot of reps. We still have some work to do.”
“From a knowledge and memorization standpoint, I feel really good with the system. I think it is great. We’ve got a lot of answers. Now, it’s just working out all the little details to be a really good offense. We’re working toward that.”

After the shoulder surgery, Trevor Lawrence suffered a minor setback with a hamstring injury. While it is something that head coach Urban Meyer says he could have played through if necessary, it wasn’t worth the risk in minicamp.
As he works his way back to 100-percent, Lawrence says his main goal is to “master” the offense ahead of the season.
“I want to just master the offense,” he said. “I want to have complete control, know everything and be comfortable. You can’t really play free and play really well if you don’t know what you’re doing. That’s the goal, to master the offense by the time training camp comes around so in training camp we can focus everything forward on being the best team we can come August 14 and then going on into the regular season as well.
“That’s the plan. It starts with the quarterback. Obviously, I have to be ready and I’m going to do everything I can to ensure that’s the case. I’m excited to get started.
The Jacksonville Jaguars open their 2021 regular season on the road at the Houston Texans in Week 1, on Sept. 12.
