The Trenton Thunder baseball team, known for literally bringing the dogs out as official "batdogs" during home games, have taken their collective love for golden retrievers to the next level by basing the teams' entire alternate identity around the friendly canine.

"This limited-edition transformation celebrates the Thunder’s long and storied tradition of featuring Golden Retrievers as full-time batdogs, a first in all of baseball," read a portion of the Thunder's press release announcing the new identity. "It all started with Chase, then his son Derby, and now the legacy continues with Derby’s son Rookie and Rookie’s cousin Dash.

"These furry superstars even stole the show on ESPN’s E-60 in a special titled "The Family Business."

A bat-toting golden retriever knocking over a fire hydrant with a mighty swing is one of the main logos for the Trenton Goldens.

The Trenton Golden uniforms are highlighted by the new "Goldens" wordmark, aptly tinted in golden retriever-yellow, with a golden retriever's tail adding a finishing flourish.

When can I see the Trenton Goldens play?

You will have just a pair of opportunities this season to see the Trenton Goldens.

"Your Trenton Goldens will take the field for two special games this season, donning their exclusive jerseys: Batdog Celebration: Wednesday, June 26th at 7 p.m., presented by NutriSource Pet Foods," read the Trenton Golden's statement. "And Bark at the Park: Sunday, August 18th at 5 p.m. presented by Dogs & Cats Rule.

"At these games, not only will fans get to see the Thunder play in their Goldens uniforms, but they can also bring their own well-behaved canine companions for a day of baseball and doggy delights!"

The Trenton Thunder also took to X, the social media platform formerly referred to as Twitter, to announce the alternate identity:

"Your Trenton Goldens will take the field for two special games this season, donning their exclusive jerseys," read the Thunder's post on X. "At these games, not only will fans get to see the Thunder play in their Goldens uniforms, but they can also bring their own well-behaved pups to the ballpark!"

Can I buy Trenton Goldens gear now?

Trenton Goldens' gear is now available on the team's website, which has a Trenton Goldens replica jersey available for $90, and a a Trenton Goldens home cap tee for $25.

Who ares the Trenton Thunder?

The Trenton Thunder are one of six teams in Major League Baseball's Draft League, but have a history that goes much further back than the Draft league's 2021 formation.

"The Trenton Thunder have drawn over 10.7 million fans over 30 years and have won the three major awards that Minor League Baseball teams can win: the Johnson Trophy for the "Nation's Best Franchise", the Larry MacPhail Trophy for Outstanding Club Promotion, and the Bob Frietas Award for Long-Term Success (Given by Baseball America)," read portion of the Trenton Thunder's history page.
