Travis Kelce Speaks Out on Post-Super Bowl Run-In With Christian McCaffrey

Travis Kelce and Christian McCaffrey walk into a bar... but that's not the whole story.

It was actually inside famed Malibu, California, eatery Nobu where the NFL stars -- who recently faced off at Super Bowl LVIII -- appeared to unknowingly cross paths last week. At the time, Travis was seen dining with a male friend while Christian was attending a private event with his fiancée, Olivia Culpo.

Travis addressed the coincidence on Wednesday's episode of New Heights.

"I went to California and was caught going to Nobu at the same time as Christian McCaffrey," he said, recounting a whirlwind few days that also included a visit to Australia for girlfriend Taylor Swift's Eras Tour stop, followed by a return to Las Vegas to party with his teammates after their Super Bowl win.

"Yeah, you guys had dinner together," Travis' brother and podcast co-host, Jason Kelce, teased.

"No, we didn't," Travis confirmed. "If I would have known that him and Olivia were there, I would have sent over a drink or at least come over and said, 'Congrats on an unbelievable season.' Got so much respect for that guy and obviously all the 49ers that we played."

He added, "I definitely would have said hello."

An eyewitness confirmed as much to ET at the time, explaining that McCaffrey and Culpo were actually in attendance for a Dolce Glow event and were seated with several people in a back private room. It appeared that all parties were attempting to keep a low profile and did not cross paths inside the restaurant. At around 10:30 p.m., the eyewitness spotted Travis and his pal waiting in a hallway near the Nobu restrooms and main entrance, seemingly waiting for a discreet exit out another door.

On Wednesday, both Travis and Jason went on to slam media reports about any relationship the athletes, following last month's Super Bowl in which Travis' Kansas City Chiefs emerged victorious over McCaffrey's San Francisco 49ers. The buzzer-beater win notably cemented the Chiefs' dynasty status.

"It's f**king ridiculous," Travis said of the recent increase in tabloid coverage about his life. "Don't believe everything you're reading, especially on what I've got going on."

Jason concluded, "Congrats on not having dinner."

Travis also acknowledged that there has been "a lot of false media" surrounding his trip to Sydney, Australia, with Taylor. He marveled at the eye-popping amount of cameras fixed on him as his plane touched down.

"You're like The Beatles," Jason quipped.

"It's a wild ride," Travis said. "I will tell you this, Australia did not disappoint. It was amazing over there."

Among the highlights of his time in the city was a trip to the Sydney Zoo with Taylor and her crew. News of their private tour with the animals quickly spread, due to aerial footage that aired on a local news station.

On Wednesday, Jason asked if Travis and Taylor had been followed by drones on the outing.

"There were full-on helicopters just flying around," Travis corrected him.

"They helicoptered us. Well, not us -- Taylor," he clarified. "This is all because Taylor's the biggest and the best thing possible."

Travis only made it to one of Taylor's four shows in Sydney before he turned things back around to return to Las Vegas to party with his Chiefs teammates. On Wednesday, he explained why.

"This had been something we had talked about as a team, like, 'Oh man, when we win in Vegas, we're gonna go back and have a good time. Do it right. Hit the casino,'" Travis shared.

The 34-year-old athlete explained that NFL rules forbade them from visiting the casinos while "on business for the organization," so the team wanted to go back on their own time "to have some fun."

"Sure enough, those memories you get of the aftermath with the guys is stuff I'll remember for the rest of my life, man," he added, explaining that changes to next year's team roster are already underway.

"The teams are never the same," he said. "Even to this day, a handful of decisions have been made with the Chiefs and a few guys aren't with us, and I wanted to make sure that I got every chance to enjoy this with those guys immediately afterwards, and it was definitely well worth it."

Travis and Jason recorded Wednesday's episode of New Heights together in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, less than 24 hours after the latter -- a beloved center for the Philadelphia Eagles -- announced his retirement from the NFL.
