Travis Kelce’s High School Football Team Sends Him a Special Message Ahead of Super Bowl

Travis Kelce of the Kansas City Chiefs speaks to the media during Kansas City Chiefs media availability ahead of Super Bowl LVIII at Westin Lake Las Vegas Resort and Spa on Feb. 7, 2024, in Henderson, Nev.

Travis Kelce’s high school football team is letting the Kansas City Chiefs tight end know they’re behind him 100 percent ahead of this weekend’s Super Bowl.

Kelce was touched by a short video the Cleveland Heights High School football team recently recorded and shared with him.

In the video, the team stands in a gym behind a red and gold banner, a nod to the Chiefs’ colors. The banner reads, “TEAR IT UP TRAVIS! CLE Heights Tigers [Love] You,” with a heart standing in for the word “love.”

“Good luck, Travis!” team members say in unison. The team tweeted the short video on Feb. 7, tagging Travis’ X account and his podcast New Heights.

Kelce reshared the video and thanked his old team for wishing him luck.

“This is why I love the Heights!!” his tweet said. “Appreciate the love and support y’all!”

A day later, Kelce’s alma mater shared “one more shoutout” to the Ohio native with another video, this time filmed outside after dark to show the school bathed in red light.

“Heights lit up Red! Let’s go @Chiefs,” the tweet said.

Kelce and the Chiefs are attempting to secure their second consecutive Super Bowl victory this weekend. Last year, the Chiefs defeated the Philadelphia Eagles—and Kelce’s brother Jason Kelce, an Eagles center—to win the Lombardi Trophy. This year, they’re facing off against the San Francisco 49ers in a rematch of sorts of the 2020 Super Bowl, though both teams have sustained personnel changes over the last four years.

One consistency (in addition to quarterback Patrick Mahomes) for the Chiefs is Kelce, who has been with the team since the Chiefs drafted him in 2013. Despite being on a team that has made it to the Super Bowl four times in five NFL seasons, Kelce has told reporters that he wants to win this one “more than I’ve ever wanted a Super Bowl in my life.”
