Ever since he was first linked to Taylor Swift, Travis Kelce has felt like the most talked-about public figure this year.

Somehow, though, he's only made it to the top five names that have trended on Google throughout 2023. It's still an impressive feat, considering Swift and Kelce have only been seeing each other (so far as the public was concerned) for the final four months of the year—and data was only collected through three of those, with the bulk of his search traffic coming in Sept.

The top two names trending in 2023 were Damar Hamlin and Jeremy Renner, both of whom suffered near-fatal medical emergencies at the start of this year—Hamlin went into cardiac arrest during an NFL game on Jan.2, and Renner was run over by his snow plow on Jan. 1—but managed to make full recoveries.

In third and fourth place came Andrew Tate, the misogynistic media personality who was arrested in Romania for human trafficking, and French soccer player Kylian Mbappé.

Jenna Ortega, breakout star of Netflix's Wednesday, followed next, ahead of Lil Tay, the child rapper who was targeted by a death hoax.

Danny Masterson, the That '70s Show actor who was sentenced to a minimum of 30 years in prison for rape, David Beckham, and Internet daddy of the year Pedro Pascal rounded out the list.

Kelce did have a couple of peaks early in the year, as he headed into the Superbowl to play against his brother, Jason Kelce.

His name also saw a minuscule spike in search traffic one week in July, when he first told the story of trying—and failing—to slip his phone number to Swift by way of a friendship bracelet during her Eras Tour weekend in Kansas City.

We're no expert in Google data, but it doesn't seem like that would have been enough to launch him into the top ten, as he remained largely stagnant until Sept., when news of their then-rumored romance broke days before Swift appeared at her very first NFL game to support her beau.

It makes sense, considering Swift put the tight end on the map!
