New Trailer Alert! The Weeknd Teams Up with Lily-Rose Depp for HBO’s ‘The Idol’

Abel “The Weeknd” Tesfaye and Lily-Rose Depp are falling in love (and taking on the crazy world of Hollywood) in the new trailer for HBO’s The Idol.

This week, HBO released the first official teaser for the original series, which comes from the minds of Euphoria creator S am Levinson and The Weeknd. Dubbed the “sleaziest love story in Hollywood,” the trailer starts with Depp’s character fully engulfed in the Hollywood party scene—which is filled with sex, drugs and an endless amount of dancing.

As the video progresses, their relationship becomes more chaotic and makes the pop star question everything. “Do you trust me?” The Weeknd asks, to which Depp replies, “Not really.”

The HBO series follows a rising pop star (Depp), who falls in love with a self-help guru (The Weeknd). Other stars include BLACKPINK member Jennie and singer Troye Sivan.

The Idol will mark The Weeknd's first major acting role. Unfortunately, HBO hasn't released any further details about the project, but we do know the show is “Coming Soon” to the platform.
