Trader Joe’s Just Recalled Bags of Its Corn Tortilla Chips Due to an Undeclared Allergen
While Trader Joe’s is one of the most affordable retailers around, it never skimps on quality. In fact, it’s our go-to to buy plenty of high-end items at a great price, including fancy cheeses, flowers and decedent, ready-to-go desserts. Unfortunately, even the best retailers make mistakes sometimes, and TJ’s is no exception.
Snak King, the maker of Trader Joe’s Restaurant Style White Corn Tortilla Chips, just announced a recall of the snacks.
Why Are Trader Joe’s Tortilla Chips Being Recalled?
According to the FDA, 9-ounce packages of the White Corn Tortilla Chips contain an undeclared milk allergen, which could pose a risk for anyone who’s sensitive or allergic to milk. You can find the full announcement here.
How Do I Know If My Chips Are Affected?
This recall only affects 9-ounce packages of white corn tortilla chips with a sell-by date of 08/09/21, 08/10/21 or 08/11/21. The recalled products were sold in Trader Joe’s stores in the following states:

What Should I Do Next?
Luckily, there have been no reports of illness yet, but if your state is on the list and you recently bought a bag of tortilla chips, return it to your nearest Trader Joe’s for a full refund. You can also contact the company Monday through Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Pacific at 626-363-7711.
You wouldn’t expect to find milk in a bag of chips, but you’d be surprised how many other places you can find dairy lurking. Luckily, there are plenty of dairy-free foods to snack on instead!
