Track Recap: Quincy splits with Concord in Big 8 track

CONCORD – The Quincy Orioles made the long trip to the Chuck King track complex in Concord on Wednesday for key Big 8 conference dual meet. The Orioles managed a tough split on the night, with the girls bringing home a victory while the boys dropped a back-and-forth battle.

Quincy girls squeeze past Concord, take key conference win

The Quincy Oriole girls track team squeezed past Concord on Wednesday, taking the road win by the score of 75-61.

Quincy’s winning effort was paced by sophomore Brookelyn Parker who swept the hurdle events, winning the 100-meter hurdles in 16.77 seconds and the 300 hurdles in 50.66 seconds. Parker also took second place in the 200 in a time of 28.59 seconds and first place as part of the 1,600 relay team along with teammates Elizabeth Craig, Lita Fulton, and Kendyl Musielewicz, finishing in first place in a time of 4:48.29.

Also securing wins for Quincy in the team victory were the 3,200 relay team of Raylee Fulton, Charlotte Crabbs, Musielewicz, and Katharina Paschke, first place in a time of 14:59.59; Kyha Brewer, first place in the shot put with a throw of 29 feet, 3 inches; Lita Fulton, first place in the pole vault with a vault of 7 feet, 6 inches; Brooke McVicker, first place in the pole vault with a vault of 7 feet, 6 inches; and Abby Tinervia, first place in the long jump with a jump of 14 feet, 5.75 inches.

Rounding out the Quincy victory with a top three finish in their respective event was Kali Kugler, second place in the 100; Abby Tinervia, third place in the 100; Elizabeth Craig, third place in the 200 and second place in the 400; Cheyenne Marske, third place in the 400 and third place in the long jump; Kendyl Musielewicz, second place in the 800; Raylee Fulton, third place in the 800 and third place in the 3,200; Katharina Paschke, second place in the 1,600; Sadie Miller, third place in the 1,600; Charlotte Crabbs, second place in the 3,200; Teagan Payne, third place in the 100 hurdles; the 400 relay team of Fulton, McVicker, Kugler and Marske, second place; the 800 relay team of Fulton, Craig, Marske, and McVicker, second place; Hallie Jones, second place in the shot put; Olivia Davenport, second place in the discus; Emyleigh Burlew, third place in the discus; Abigial Miller, second place in the high jump; and Abby Leosh, third place in the pole vault.

Concord races past Quincy for conference win

The Concord Yellow Jackets defended their home track on Wednesday, defeating the Quincy Orioles by the score of 77.5-58.5.

Quincy’s effort was paced by sophomore hurdle specialist Clayton Benson who swept the hurdle events, winning the 110 hurdles in 16.57 seconds and the 300 hurdles in 46.09 seconds. Benson was also a part of the runner-up 1,600 relay team along with teammates Kaleb Handy, Micah Groves, and Noah Pearson.

Junior Corey Turner had a solid night in the field events, winning the pole vault with a vault of 12 feet, 0 inches while also finishing in second place in the long jump with a jump of 18 feet, 11.50 inches.

Also bringing home wins for Quincy was Noah Pearson, first place in the 400 in a time of 54.55; Max Stetler, first place in the 3,200 in a time of 13 minutes, 23.68 seconds; and Ethan Pearson, first place in the shot put with a throw of 39 feet, 6.50 inches.

Rounding out the Quincy effort with a top three finish was Cameron Barry, third place in the 100 and second place in the 200; Micah Groves, third place in the 200; Eddie Miller, third place in the 800; Chayse Jensen, third place in the 1,600; Coy Wood, second place in the 3,200; Michael Payne, third place in the 110 hurdles and third place in the 300 hurdles; the 400 relay team of Turner, Handy, Kaden Cutler, and Barry, second place; the 800 relay team of Barry, Noah Rufenacht, Pearson, and Groves, second place; the 1600 relay team of Benson, Handy, Groves, and Pearson, second place; the 3,200 relay team of Jensen, Miller, Nathan Richer, and Wood, second place; Lincoln Sims, second place in the shot put; Spencer Patrias, third place in the shot put; Hayden Peters, third place in the discus; Rufenacht, second place in the high jump; Alex Dunn, third place in the high jump and third place in the long jump; Handy, second place in the pole vault; and Austin Preston, third place in the pole vault.
